The Origin Story/Long Story Short
Janelle Paris discovered a talent for composing horror film scores in the early 2000s. Over the past several decades she has written dozens of film scores using piano, orchestration, and soundscape to create a terrifying and uneasy atmosphere. Janelle took several of these scores and reworked them, creating the original story of Horror Trope: the Musical. The book and lyrics were created around the existing scores and the result is this creepy and hilarious show.

Audience
Horror Trope: the Musical is for fans of both horror and musical theatre. If you love witty lyrics, catchy tunes, and a healthy dose of spooky fun, this is the show for you. The ideal listener is someone who appreciates the classics but is always looking for a fresh, modern twist. The story is fun and meant to be taken lightly, even in the serious moments. Janelle Paris is quoted saying "Wait for my next show if you want something deep and meaningful. Horror Trope is meant to be a pure entertainment piece and chance for vocalists/actors to show off a little bit!"

Janelle Paris
Musician, choreographer, composer, mom, leading lady. Janelle started playing classical piano at age 9 and played through the entire first book in her first lesson. A gifted musician, Janelle went on to attend the prestigious Orange County High School of the Arts (now OCSA) in the instrumental music program. She participated in professional and community theatre musical productions and found a true love for the stage. Eventually, she took a hiatus from music and studied dance, making a living teaching and performing. Janelle eventually returned to music as she felt her true gift was performing onstage, singing, and composing. Her first musical is a true testament to her talents, vocally and creatively.
"This is going to be the next big thing in musical horror comedy! I can't wait to see it on stage."
